Rainbow Dust Information and Food Safety

FOOD SAFTEY

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) carries out work on colours,to make sure that their presence in food does not compromise food safety

If a food additive has an E number this shows it has passed safety tests and been approved for use throughout the European Union. (EU) This approval is monitored, reviewed and amended in the light of new scientific data.
Rainbow Dust only use EU approved colours in our Edible Products

EDIBLE DUSTS - The Silk Range

We provide on all our edible products a BBE (best before end) along with a list of ingredients.
BBE (The 'best before' dates are more about quality than safety, So when the date runs out it doesn't mean that the food will be harmful, but it might begin to lose its colour, flavour, or texture.

NON EDIBLE NON TOXIC DUSTS (coming soon)

Many colours that we use in cake decorating are not approved by the EU and are now called craft dusts, they are widely used in the industry but are used on decorations that can easily be removed . RAINBOW DUST label these as NON TOXIC

NON TOXIC GLITTERS (NON-TOXIC - not harmful) – The Sparkle Range

Non toxic glitters can be used on decorations that are easily removed. If consumed, then the product will cause no harm and will simply pass through during digestion. This product can not be classed as edible as this would mean it is digestible and is classed as a food, therefore we simply have to label it as “Non-Toxic”

RAINBOW DUST WILL ALWAYS CLEARLY PROVIDE INFORMATION ON ALL OUR PRODUCTS.
